A number of U.S. government organizations own large fleets of aircraft that must be kept at mission-operational status. The core businesses of these organizations generally involve flying the aircraft, not maintaining them. A further challenge arises because many of the aircraft are aging, requiring special skill sets for maintenance and modifications. Moreover, many parts for older aircraft are no longer in production, so these parts must be managed carefully and sometimes manufactured. Many of these challenges are mission-critical and must be met in unforgiving environments.

How Our Clients Benefit
Our customers experience higher mission-capability ratings, reduced sustainment cost, and the benefit of our working agreements with the aircraft manufacturers, which ensure ready access to hard-to-find parts and supplies. Expedited procurement and assessment processes deliver better customer mission performance. Faster procurement of parts means aircraft are returned rapidly to fully mission-capable condition, and therefore customers' mission performance standards are improved.
Our managers share knowledge across similar programs to streamline processes and raise performance standards for all customers. By applying Six Sigma processes, Lean thinking, and performance metrics across multiple sites, we can quickly identify areas for improvement.
CSC has performed or is currently performing the following aviation services programs:
NASA Johnson Space Center: Aircraft maintenance and modification program at multiple locations
Patuxent River: Range operations and aircraft test and engineering support
Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC): Operational support of contractor-owned S-61 helicopters, providing pilots, aircrew and FAA-certified maintenance
Vance Air Force Base: 71st FTW aircraft maintenance
Hill AFB: Bonded repair on F-16s
U.S. Army MI-17 and MI-24/35 pilot and aircrew training, aircraft maintenance and logistics support
