OmniLocation Suite: LOFT, LISA and CoCAT

Google Earth map with locations marked

Transporting hazardous waste materials safely. Keeping contact with soldiers in remote regions. Tracking items in a large and complex supply chain such as the U.S.Army’s logistics enterprise. To tackle these and many other challenges that touch important aspects of safety, national security and improved operational efficiency, location systems are becoming increasingly important to government and corporations.

CSC’s OmniLocation is a suite of safety location systems for tracking people, vehicles, materials and assets — in motion and in difficult terrain. OmniLocation adds important features to standard location systems, making them “intelligent.” Because OmniLocation is technology- and vendor-independent, it can add the benefits of intelligence to virtually any location system.

The OmniLocation suite includes three offerings that address a range of location requirements: LOFT (Location Object Field Tracking), LISA (Location Intelligent Safety Application) and CoCAT (Chain of Custody Asset Tracking).

LOFT: Location Information in Near-Real Time (Get brochure)

LOFT is an OmniLocation solution designed primarily for distributed or large-scale industrial enterprises and government agencies/departments that have remote infrastructure that must be inspected and maintained. The performance of these necessary tasks creates safety and security risks. To mitigate these risks, the geographic position of individual workers, groups or vehicles must be continuously available in near-real time.

The U.S. Army needs similar technologies to track soldiers and material, while the Department of Homeland Security and the Environmental Protection Agency need such systems to track transportation of goods across borders and of hazardous waste material within the country.

LOFT is a location-intelligent Web application that combines best-of-breed technologies to focus on targeted individuals or groups. An integrated solution with strategy and technology consulting, application customization/integration, and presentation design built in, LOFT can provide intelligence on the location of anyone, anytime, anywhere on earth. The dynamic, real-time location information provided by LOFT also makes it possible to improve decision making through visual representation of location and actionable data.

LISA: Proactively Addressing Safety Hazards (Get brochure)

LISA is a CSC application that addresses the high cost of industrial accidents and, consequently, the critical need to comply with regulations to enhance the safety of facilities and personnel. By combining state-of-the-art, RFID-based location tracking with active controls, LISA improves the safety of facilities and installations by making it possible to avoid safety hazards rather than simply reacting to accidents.

The system actively prevents accidents through the benefits of intelligent location, enabling enterprises to analyze, decide, create attribute-based policy, and act to protect people and assets.

LISA is applicable to all branches of the federal government concerned with the safety of facilities and installations (for example, DoD and EPA), as well as to intelligence agencies. In the commercial arena, LISA can be used by the petrochemical industry, utilities and mining, as well as a range of manufacturing industries where safety is of paramount importance.

CoCAT: Tracking Ownership and Custody of Hazardous Materials (Get brochure)

CoCAT is a real-time, intelligent safety location system that improves accountability for the transportation of high-value, hazardous or dangerous waste material by fixing location, establishing presence, and tracing ownership and custody.

Using a built-in identity and resource management engine, CoCAT can electronically track a vehicle or container and its contents, thereby preventing fraud. The system can replace the entire hazardous/dangerous components process flow. CoCAT can play a central role in the government and several core industries, including the hazardous materials (hazmat) truck transport market and the industrial, energy and pharmaceutical sectors, all of which are involved in manufacturing and transporting hazardous or high-value material.
