EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Jan. 6 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced that two insurers, Illinois-based Pekin Insurance and a regional property and casualty (P&C) organization in the Midwest, have licensed CSC’s Colossus software to help ensure their bodily injury claims processes are consistent and efficient. Pekin Insurance is one of the top 150 U.S. insurers, as ranked by total net premiums written, while the Midwestern company is the first mid-range, multi-state insurer to license Colossus.
The insurance industry’s leading expert system, Colossus helps adjusters fairly and consistently evaluate bodily injury claims. Clients include 12 of the top 20 U.S. automobile insurers and more than 50 companies worldwide. Colossus gives adjusters access to claims data displayed in a business framework for evaluating injuries, treatments, resolution, impairment and general damage settlements. It helps ensure consistent payouts on similar bodily injury claims by reducing the subjectivity in the settlement process. Colossus is also available as the bodily injury component in CSC’s Exceed, POINT IN and RISKMASTER software solutions.
“I met with Colossus clients at CSC’s Claims Executive Forum,” said Curt Eeten, vice president of Claims at Pekin Insurance. “They said Colossus is easy to use, and their experiences convinced me that the system can bring us consistency and discipline in our claims settlements.”
“Colossus is well established among the largest insurers, but mid-range insurers are also looking for fair and streamlined claims processes,” said Ed Charlton, vice president of CSC’s Claims, Legal and Self-Insured Solutions. “CSC has recently revised Colossus’ pricing and delivery options to bring best practices in claims settlement to this segment of the P&C industry as well.”
