CSC ENHANCES CHECK FRAUD DETECTION SOFTWARE

CSC’s FraudVision Software to Include Positive Pay and Reverse Positive Pay Modules

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Oct. 27 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced the availability of two new modules in its FraudVision software suite that help identify and prevent check fraud. The two modules, Payee Positive Pay and Reverse Positive Pay, enable financial institutions and their corporate clients to work together more effectively to reduce financial losses.

CSC’s FraudVision is an automated pattern recognition system that combats check fraud in high-volume, image-based payment processing operations. Based on more than 15 years of experience with pattern recognition technology, FraudVision integrates multiple pattern recognition capabilities with check imaging to detect forged and counterfeit checks.

“Attempted check fraud is a multibillion dollar problem in the United States,” said Bill Cunningham, general manager of CSC's Integrated Payments organization. “With these value-added modules, FraudVision is the banking industry’s first integrated check fraud solution that includes cash management applications with advanced capabilities for detecting counterfeits and forgeries, including signature verification.”

In positive pay programs, financial institutions match data from checks presented for payment against their corporate clients’ lists of issued checks. Traditional positive pay programs identify changes to a check’s serial number, dollar amount and account number. FraudVision’s new Payee Positive Pay module increases the likelihood of detecting check fraud by also identifying changes made to the payee’s name.

In reverse positive pay programs, financial institutions extend similar fraud detection capabilities to corporate clients who do not provide check issue data. FraudVision’s Reverse Positive Pay module uses pattern recognition technology to identify changes to check images and flags suspicious checks for further examination, reducing labor-intensive manual matching of check data.

CSC’s FraudVision clients can use the Payee Positive Pay and Reverse Positive Pay modules without additional licensing fees, while new clients can purchase the modules on a stand-alone basis or packaged with FraudVision software. A patent for FraudVision is pending with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
