News Release -- March 1, 2004

CSC’S ‘COLOSSUS’ PERSONAL INJURY CLAIMS SYSTEM SELECTED BY MOTOR INSURERS’ BUREAU

Aldershot, UK, 1st March 2004: Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC), a leading information technology (IT) services firm, announced today that the UK’s Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) has signed an agreement to licence Colossus, CSC’s industry leading software for providing consistency in the assessment of personal injury claims.

Colossus is the general insurance industry’s most comprehensive and widely used knowledge-based claims evaluation system, used by claims handlers to help evaluate general damages at more than 50 companies worldwide. The system promotes fair and consistent personal injury claims assessment through the use of software that is based on thousands of rules intended to help adjusters assess a wide variety of claims and medical information.

MIB will use Colossus to assimilate pertinent facts and assess damages for a wide range of injuries. Colossus’ reporting capabilities will allow MIB to improve the monitoring of its claims history and performance.

The MIB, which provides compensation for individuals who are injured by uninsured or untraced drivers, handled in the order of 75,000 claims in 2003 and now employs more than 200 claims handlers.

“Whilst other systems would have allowed us to achieve the desired level of consistency in damage assessments, MIB chose CSC because of its extensive UK customer base and the wide use of Colossus within the insurance community,” said Ashton West, MIB chief executive officer.

“We are delighted to have been selected by such a significant organisation as the MIB,” said John Maitz, vice president and head of CSC’s Claims Solutions Group. “With Colossus, MIB will be able to improve the consistency of its handling of personal injury claims, which will ultimately prove beneficial to honest motorists.”

About the Motor Insurer’s Bureau (MIB)

The MIB was set up in 1946 by the motor insurance market, as a company limited by guarantee, to act as the national guarantee fund, compensating the victims of uninsured and untraced motorists. The MIB was subsequently confirmed in that role when member States of the European Union were required to establish guarantee funds under the Second Motor Insurance Directive (84/5/EEC).

The MIB is also the national Green Card Bureau, providing a “guarantee” of insurance for UK motorists overseas, as well as for foreign motorists in this country. The MIB provides these services for the entirety of the United Kingdom - England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Gibraltar.

The MIB was further appointed as the Compensation Body under the Fourth Directive (2000/26/EC), effective from 20/1/2003, for England, Wales, and Scotland, which involves dealing with claims made by British citizens arising from road accidents abroad, where the foreign insurer has no representation in the UK.

The MIB’s subsidiary the Motor Insurers’ Information Centre (MIIC), manages the Motor Insurers’ database, a nationwide database, designed to record the insurance details of UK vehicles and which is being increasingly used by the police to validate the insurance status of vehicles.
