Austin, Texas, Oct. 5 -- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) announced today that its object-oriented life and pension administration system, GraphTalk A.I.A, has been implemented at Edinburgh-based Scottish Provident, the leading UK provider of financial protection products.
Scottish Provident will initially use GraphTalk A.I.A to launch the new generation of its unique Self Assurance Plan, which provides access to the widest range of coverages available in a single UK policy. The menu-based plan offers financial protection throughout a lifetime and can adapt to a person's changing circumstances.
"We have turned the protection market on its head by designing the product to fit the customer," said David Robinson, Scottish Provident's head of marketing and business development. "We are already the recognized market leader for protection insurance. Our new approach will put us even further ahead of our competition in one leap. CSC's GraphTalk A.I.A solution provided the flexible product engine to enable us to achieve this advantage."
Cris Lewis, head of systems development at Scottish Provident, said, "We needed to bring about huge organizational change while simultaneously implementing a new and complex multisystem information technology environment. The excellent relationship with CSC, truly an effective partnership, enabled us to take on this challenge and win.
"The new systems, with the GraphTalk A.I.A solution at the core, allow fast and unrestricted product development, quotations, new business and servicing activities," Lewis added. "They support multiple delivery channels and a high degree of process automation. Generating a real collaborative partnership was challenging, but worthwhile, and demanded the highest caliber people from both sides. We are increasingly convinced that GraphTalk A.I.A was the right choice and now gives us the strong strategic platform we need to accelerate our market leadership."
The system, which is now handling record volumes of quotes, is integrated with AWD* (CSC's workflow management solution) and has full quotation capabilities available over the Internet, via the eXchange, through a call center and over distributed mobile laptops and PCs to support independent financial advisers.
Steve Mitchener, CSC's divisional vice president of the northern Europe region, added, "We are positioning GraphTalk A.I.A to become the industry standard to support activities in stakeholder pensions, employee benefits, healthcare and investment products. As the life and pension segments continue to reinvent themselves, GraphTalk A.I.A will emerge as the most obvious choice of product for rapid delivery to market."
