Franciscan Missionaries of our Lady Health System (FMOLHS), located in Louisiana, is a large non-profit healthcare network that serves patients across the state via an assortment of hospitals, clinics, elderly housing facilities, physicians, integrated information systems and an onsite medical college. This network, headquartered in Baton Rouge, is anchored by the 800+ bed facility, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, and yields a combined total of over 1,600 licensed beds amongst the three major medical centers along with over 9,000 employees. As part of their plan, they targeted streamlining operations, creating standards with measureable service levels, instilling a formalized governance process, implementing monitoring procedures, eliminating silos, increasing communication, and effectively managing a balanced and transparent portfolio of projects via a proven methodology.
CSC M5 Solution
Our team executed the planning and delivery of services to evolve the FMOLHS IT organization into a high-performing entity in operations, governance, project management and clarity. As a result of this year-long engagement, we assisted FMOLHS achieve their objectives of cost reduction with enhanced delivery quality.
Promising Results
Prior to this initiative, FMOLHS lacked governance structures for making project and resource decisions and had an ineffective project delivery track record. With this journey, FMOLHS conducted a complete reorganization and started from “square one.” The ROI of their PMO and cost savings is not necessarily one to be measured by the dollar amount but by the creation of metrics that were never available and now enable a transparent environment that is streamlined and operates efficiently. FMOLHS now delivers projects 98 percent on time and within budget, where one year prior to their implementation, no measurements existed. FMOLHS can provide 100 percent project accounting for all project capital and operating expenses, where one year prior this was non-existent, and they are able to plan, balance and prioritize portfolios of initiatives three years in advance with feedback and input from all governing entities.
