The proliferation of smart mobile devices and the explosion of healthcare apps are astounding. The next generation of mobility is the synergistic combination of smart device, value-add capabilities such as cameras, GPS, video chat and Bluetooth connectivity coupled with innovative software apps that are already supplementing or even replacing traditional healthcare tasks. In many organizations, grass-roots mHealth is already underway. Catching up will require developing an mHealth strategy that sets the vision and direction and proactively establishes the ground rules for use.
