HIT Roadmap to Safety, Quality and Efficiency

In response to the EHR HITECH incentives, leaders in hospitals and health systems have put IT plans on the back burner and are scrambling to implement the EHR in time to gain the incentives and avoid the disincentives of not achieving meaningful use on the timeline for the program. A minimalist response to the requirements of HITECH Stage 1 will not provide a solid foundation for Stage 2 or the future, and could be inefficient or unsafe in some cases.

The CSC HIT Roadmap to Safety, Quality, and Efficiency was developed to aid in making decisions aimed at meeting HITECH Stage 1 requirements for hospitals, keeping both safety and the needs of the future in mind.
