The next generation of pharmaceutical R&D will use many new tools to connect the patient and researcher as never before. Genomic and biomarker tools, combined with molecular level disease research and longitudinal clinical data, will be used to develop therapies targeted to the specific needs of each patient.  Semantic search tools and next generation bioinformatics will bring new speed to discovery of candidate molecules. And adaptive clinical trials will significantly shorten the time it takes to bring an effective drug to market.
