Healthcare delivery, especially in the hospital, is a complex web of care processes performed by numerous care professionals from different disciplines and departments who must coordinate their patient care tasks and share information constantly. Every hour, there are a number of opportunities for delays, miscommunications, or lack of communication all together.

Understanding efficiency gaps requires dissecting hospital workflows to identify resource and communication bottlenecks, redundant work, and inappropriate use of valuable resources. Once this hard work has been done, organizations can incorporate technologies as part of a new way of delivering care — in less time, with fewer tasks, and often, by less-skilled providers (including patients in some cases).
