Leadership in Environmental Efforts

For many years, CSC has worked with clients on unique, high-tech projects that are having an impact on environmental research. Here are some of our stories.

Next Generation Node (NGN)

The Next Generation Node (NGN) is a powerful tool that lets environmental agencies easily exchange data with the EPA and each other via the National Environmental Information Exchange Network.

Water Security Initiative

The intentional contamination of drinking water is a serious terrorist threat. To counter this hazard, the EPA adopted its Water Security Initiative. As a part of this important homeland security program, CSC worked with the EPA and the Greater Cincinnati Water Works on a pilot program that will serve as a national water-security model that other utilities could adopt.

Satellite Enhances Climate Studies

One of the latest satellites launched with our help measures ocean height, which allows the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to determine such conditions as wind speed, ocean currents and global sea-level rise.

Web Ring Keeps the Lid on Toxic Waste

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is using a CSC-developed navigation tool - a Web Ring - that organizes and links online databases and other Web-based information about reuse of formerly contaminated sites

Cleaning Up the UK's Nuclear Industry (PDF)

Under the Energy Act of 2004, the UK's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is responsible for the decommissioning and cleanup of the UK's public sector nuclear sites. Because of our experience in the highly regulated nuclear industry, Magnox Electric Limited, which manages 10 of these sites for NDA, partnered with CSC to help them accomplish this important task quickly and securely.
