Some helpful hints before you apply

We’re delighted that you’ve decided to apply to us, and we want to ensure that you stand the best possible chance of success in our process. Therefore, please bear in mind the following advice when completing your application form:

• A really good application form is crucial for success in this process. Our team spend the majority of their time looking at the competency and motivational answers you provide, so make sure that you really think about your answers for this section. It’s really important to make sure that you provide an answer which addresses the whole question, so it’s worth referring back to the initial question to check that you have covered all the points requested
• For the competency questions, it's useful to structure your answers using the STAR technique (Situation, Task, Action, Result). So we are looking for you to explain a little bit about the situation you were in, the task you were trying to complete, the action you personally took to get to a resolution, and the result of your efforts. This helps us to really understand the example you're referring to
• Spend some time thinking carefully about why CSC is the right place for you - we think it's great here, and we want to know why you want to join us rather than our competitors. We’re looking for you to demonstrate that you understand us, our mission and our business, and for you to show why this excites you
• Remember that your application form is your first opportunity to make a great impression, not just with the recruitment team, but with your future manager. Therefore, we highly recommend that you spell check and sense check your application form before you submit it
