Corporate Social Responsbility

CSC’s commitment to corporate responsibility is a vital part of our philosophy. We not only look to benefit our clients and shareholders, but also the people who work for us and the wider community.
CSC has an active Corporate Responsibility Programme, which provides a mechanism for staff to engage in community based activities, volunteering, giving time or skills to charities, environmental conservation days or fundraising through Friday dress down days, pub quizzes or sponsored challenges.
Our Mentoring in the Community (MiC) Programme leverages the talents and skills of CSC employees to provide both vital mentoring and coaching services to people and community groups and pro bono consultancy for charitable organisations. Participants in the programme are afforded an opportunity to receive training and develop their leadership skills whilst giving back to the community.
We also have a Wellbeing Programme which encourages all our staff to lead a healthier balanced lifestyle through awareness training, group fitness challenges and on-site wellness events.
A great example of how Wellbeing is helping employees around the country is our ever popular Healthy Heart events which are 10 minute Healthy Heart Checks, measuring blood pressure, blood glucose and total cholesterol. We continue to run these events each year.
Environment
We always strive to conduct our business activities in an environmentally responsible manner. This means balancing economic development with the protection of the environment in which we live.
Our operations are predominantly office and data centre based and, as a result, our main environmental impacts include consumption of energy and the use of water, computer equipment and large amounts of paper. Our Environmental Management System is accredited to recognised industry standards and has been designed to maximise our contribution to the protection of the environment.
Making a surprising impact
CSC people can often be found making a real difference to the community as a whole through the work they undertake for charity. Just take a look at some of our recent achievements:
- In the last financial year we gave over 1,000 days to employee volunteering in our community and
- We fundraising over £174,000 for charitable causes, including Help for Heroes, Princes Trust, Macmillan Cancer Support, Sports Relief, Red Nose Day and many local charities.
- Last year we recycled a massive 76% of all the waste we generated.
