If you haven’t decided the direction your career will take just yet, we can help. Our Business and Technical Graduate Programme offers you the flexibility and freedom you need to learn more about different roles, and discover if they match your ambitions. You might for example try Project Management followed by Service Delivery in your first year, and then choose to specialise in Sales in your second. Technical roles in engineering, solutions architecture or systems integration and transformation are also available.
No matter what route you choose, your next two years will be full of challenges. But ultimately this is a highly rewarding programme and one with a fantastic chance to interact with our senior management and client base. On this programme, as with others, you may be required to work at any of our offices in the UK and occasionally you may travel abroad. So flexibility is key.
Service Delivery
At CSC we deliver a consistent, reliable service for our clients and right at the heart of this you’ll find our Service Managers and Executives. In this role it’s all about getting the balance right – performing to the highest standards and exceeding client expectations, while also keeping a close eye on profitability.
One day, you might be leading a cross-functional technology team restoring services to a major client. The next, working with the business development teams to create innovative services for the future. What’s more, you’ll have the chance to work on different client accounts across the region. Opportunities exist at all stages in the service lifecycle including Business Development, Service Transition and Transformation as well as on-going service delivery.
We want you to come out of the programme ready to take the next step up the ladder. That’s why your career development will be structured to include on-the-job experience as well the chance to study for industry-recognised qualifications in ITIL. To excel, you’ll need confidence, excellent communication skills, calmness under pressure and natural business acumen.
Client and Business Development
The Client and Business Development stream is dedicated to winning mid and large-scale business and IT service contracts. Here a great deal of time is spent listening to our clients, understanding their requirements and finally deciding how to best support their needs.
There are two routes you could take within this stream. Either follow a career in Client and Business Development, or take on a more specialist Bid and Sales Management role. No matter what your preference, both of these will help you become well-rounded in the world of business. You’ll quickly learn how to develop rapport, understand how to influence, how to negotiate and how to think and act with the customer in mind.
Client and Business Development
Have you got what it takes to understand a client’s business and find a solution that will solve their business problems? Working alongside key roles such as Account Management, Business Development, Client Relationship Management, and Sales – you’ll see first-hand just how our business operates.
As well as developing an understanding of IT services, including markets and competition, you’ll gain exposure to key areas of our business. During the programme you will be expected to complete a number of assignments, including supporting an account management team, creating sales enablement materials and working with the Sales team in bid management. Each assignment will provide you with a different aspect of the client management lifecycle and an opportunity to develop the key skills that you’ll require to become successful in this area. When you’ve completed the two-year programme, you are likely to become an Account Manager, a Marketing Specialist, or a Go To Market Lead.
Bid and Sales Management
Improving our sales capability and developing a strong team of employees who can sell is very important to us. That’s why this programme covers a number of key assignments that will develop your understanding of the end-to-end bid process including, bid management, sales support, commercial awareness and deal structure. It's a dynamic environment that requires a committed and results-driven approach. In return, we will provide you with all the learning opportunities and formal training that's needed to become a sales professional.
Project Management
Think you could deliver complex IT projects that are on budget, on time and to our clients’ satisfaction? This programme will play a big part in helping you get there. Providing the basis for industry-standard accreditation, and culminating in a permanent project management role, you’ll undertake a series of whole project lifecycle assignments, with each project part of a much larger change programme. The result will impact on the scope, resources, risk, quality management, cost, and communication of your assignment.
