A Global Business Serving Global Clients
CSC operates around the globe and works along-side some of the world’s major business players. Each of our 95,000 professionals plays a critical role in developing and nurturing relationships with clients, many of which last for years.
Zurich Financial Services (Zurich) is a global insurance-based financial services provider with offices in 170 countries. Founded in 1872, it has a network of subsidiaries and offices, predominantly in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. CSC’s relationship with Zurich began in July 2004 when they signed a landmark seven-year global IT applications outsourcing contract. Through the agreement, CSC provides applications development and support services to Zurich’s businesses in the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Germany, and, more recently, Italy as well. In 2008, CSC expanded the services it provides to Zurich with the award of the desktop services contract, which has a six-year base period at an estimated value of £250 million, with a two-year extension option.
Under the contract, CSC assumed responsibility for the provision of Zurich’s electronic Workplace (eWP) desktop services to its businesses in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Spain, including a global service desk, local on-site support, and software packaging and distribution to approximately 51,000 users.
Finally, in 2010, CSC signed a third infrastructure outsourcing contract with Zurich that covers global data centre centralisation and server virtualisation over a ten and half year period and is designed to transform Zurich’s existing data centre environment into a fully modernised, flexible and highly virtualised operation. Long-term partnerships of this kind present a huge wealth of opportunities for our ambitious graduates. Take Ellis Williams, for instance. The University of Portsmouth graduate actually majored in International Finance & Trade before joining us back in 1998. Starting out as a Business Analyst and later taking on roles as a Junior Project Manager and Mainframe Systems Programmer, he joined the architecture team, where he’s worked on a number of different accounts. Today, he is Lead Architect for Zurich in the Americas – a demonstration of exactly how far CSC graduates are able to progress. And a real endorsement of the ‘Change Happenz’ philosophy at Zurich.
