Meet Binny - Sales Centre Class of 2012
I am a 24 year old graduate who goes by the name of Binny Sangha. Graduating just over a year ago now I studied Business Management at Aston University, Birmingham. During the third year of my degree course, I participated in a year placement with the energy provider National Grid, as a Contracts Analyst. It was also during this placement that I first had interaction with CSC as they outsource all the IT infrastructure of National Grid. At the time I was unaware of the CSC brand but after some research I was impressed how CSC were able to compete with other ‘well established’ IT organizations to win and subsequently deliver complex services to a range of clientele. Do some research on the CSC website and you will be surprised by the diversified client portfolio, many of whom operate not just UK based but span across geographical boundaries.
At this moment in time that I write this blog, I have been on the CSC graduate scheme for three weeks. This compromised initially of a week of intensive inductions where I was able to receive an insight into the operations of CSC, our corporate strategy and some of the exciting future opportunities for our organization. This was supported by informal training workshops on presentation skills, development plans and provided an ideal opportunity to ‘network’ with senior managers across CSC and graduates both during the induction week and within evening social events.
Since the inductions I have been assigned to the Bid Management team, which is part of the UK and Ireland Sales Centre arm where our role is to win new business for CSC. I am currently working on an online platform which is designed to save time and effort when we develop bid proposals. My manager is remotely based so all communication is conducted via messenger and WebEx rather than direct face to face communication, which initially proved to be challenging. But as graduates from time to time we are expected to be taken outside of our comfort zone, so I have steadily adapted to the changing working practices. There is still a long way to go with this particular project but I am motivated that in my own way I am helping to move CSC forward.
