Meet Pav - Project Management Class of 2012
Hi, my name is Pavandeep Virk and I recently joined CSC in September 2012 on the Project Management Graduate Scheme, having graduated from Reading University in Applied Computer Science.
After having done a 12 month placement at BAE Systems, where I was involved in project management, I decided that the project management route was one that I wanted to take. The chance to be trained into a management position where I get to have control of my own budget, time and team is something which really appealed to me, and so I began searching for project management schemes. What was really important for me during this search was to find a company that had a known pedigree in delivering IT projects to a wide range of clients from different industries, which I see as being very important as it gives you the chance to test and adapt yourself to new challenges. Though many IT consultancy firms do all of this, there was one thing that struck me straight away when researching about CSC, and that was CSC’s graduate development. CSC came across as being very keen on developing their graduates to get the best out of them, and they definitely recognise the importance we’ll play in the company’s future.
What I’m really enjoying about my time here at CSC so far is the open and friendly structure that seems to run through the spine of the company; everyone is very willing to help (especially if you’re a graduate) and networking is highly encouraged within the organisation. Through my short time here I’ve managed to meet many senior managers and directors (both within CSC and at my client site), travelled to exotic locations such as London, Manchester and Milton Keynes, and also been given real responsibility and work to do which has definitely benefited the project I’m currently on. So if you’re looking for a company where you’ll really feel like you’re valued, no matter where you are in your career, coupled with brilliant training and career opportunities, then CSC is the company for you!
