CSC CloudMail for VMware Zimbra® Added to Global Portfolio of Services
News Release -- August 30, 2011
First Global IT Services Provider to Offer Complete Email Solution with the VMware Zimbra Collaboration Platform
LAS VEGAS – Aug. 30 – Today at VMworld® 2011, CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced “CSC CloudMail for VMware Zimbra,” its newest email and collaboration service offering for the cloud. CloudMail for VMware Zimbra® enables businesses to build a collaboration hub for email, contacts, calendars, documents, file sharing, tasks, social media and enterprise applications that is tailored to their individual needs. CSC is the only worldwide IT service provider to offer a complete cloud email solution that includes migration services as well as on and off-premises deployment models.
The service is based on open technology; therefore integration with other business process applications – such as expense management, customer relationship management, or procurement processing – is feasible and easily managed. CloudMail for VMware Zimbra combines the CSC experience of managing more than one million desktops, with next-generation technology from VMware, to offer email and collaboration in the cloud at 50 percent lower cost than legacy, on-premises licensed software solutions. It supports Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer on any desktop or device and works with Windows, Mac and Linux desktops.
“CSC CloudMail for VMware Zimbra® is ideally suited when cost is a major driver, and when seamless integration with other business applications like salesforce.com is required to improve workflow and end-user productivity,” said Siki Giunta, vice president, Cloud Computing and Software Services, CSC. “Many of our clients and prospects, including large enterprise organizations, are looking for an open source, scalable, feature-rich, web 2.0 solution accessible across any device. VMware Zimbra meets these requirements while providing easy deployment, migration and administration.”
CloudMail for Zimbra is robust, reliable and secure, and can be deployed either on- or off-premise. It enables enterprises to take their on-premise email infrastructure to the cloud and gain scalability, efficiency and cost savings without sacrificing requirements for availability and resiliency. Off-premise, the service is deployed from the CSC Trusted Cloud datacenter. It will be available in North America commercial market in September, followed by availability in Europe and Asia during the second half of 2011.
“VMware Zimbra® continues to be the fastest-growing enterprise collaboration solution as organizations make it their next-generation collaboration platform of choice,” said Jim Morrisroe, vice president, Zimbra Products, VMware. “With CloudMail for VMware Zimbra, customers can leverage CSC’s vast knowledge and experience to tailor an email and collaboration solution to suit their business needs, whether in the cloud or on premise.”
CSC is a global leader in providing technology-enabled business solutions and services. Headquartered in Falls Church, Va., CSC has approximately 93,000 employees and reported revenue of $16.2 billion for the 12 months ended July 1, 2011.
