Cybersecurity's Impact on Business: An Interview with CSC's Sam Visner
October 2011 is the eighth-annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month and recent activity shows the growing importance of this issue for government agencies, as well as the private sector.
In early October, the Government Accountability Office released a report on information security stating that security incidents among 24 major agencies increased some 650% in the last five years. According to the report, each of the 24 agencies reviewed had weaknesses in information security controls, because agencies had not fully implemented their information security programs.
More recently, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) released guidance regarding public company disclosure obligations relating to cybersecurity risks and cyber incidents.
