Team CSC-Saxo Bank boss Bjarne Riis was smiling before the start of Monday’s third stage at the Tour de France. The sun had just popped out and lit up the 12th century ramparts around Saint-Malo. Some five hours later, he wasn’t quite as happy after crashes took down Frank Schleck and Nicki Sorensen, but earlier in the morning, he was beaming. “This Tour has been perfect for us so far – perfect. We’ve haven’t had to do any work at all. The first few stages are always nervous. It’s the Tour. It’s like that. We are going well so far. The important stages are still ahead of us. We have to stay calm and avoid trouble.”
