CSCers Join Forces for Children’s Health Charities

image

CSC’s CENR Group supports some of the world’s leading chemical and energy companies. Its employees also support numerous charities across the United States, donating time and money to help their communities. Children are a special focus, according to Susan Sargent, CSC’s senior marketing manager for CENR:

“We believe in supporting the community, and our employees have done an outstanding job of showing their community spirit. We support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF); employees in three regions united for the cause and generated a total of nearly $72,000 in research donations by participating in multiple JDRF Walks for the Cure in the autumn of 2007.

Last year, CENR employees supporting CSC’s Newmont account in Denver participated in the event for the first time. Nine walkers led by four CSC employee captains generated $500 in donations and joined 4,000 others for the JDRF Walk in September.

CENR employees in the Houston region also made a strong showing in their first walk. CSC employees from the Houston Consulting Group, BHP North America and Shell accounts teamed up to meet the goal. The CSC captains got 122 walkers to participate, generating approximately $14,000 in donations.

Delaware-area CENR employees, who have participated in the walk for four years in a row, achieved an ambitious goal: to beat the prior year’s fundraising results. Combined with CENR matching funds, and donations from walkers, the total raised was $57,409—beating the previous year’s donation total of $43,757. JDRF recognized the effort by honoring our Delaware team with the award for Largest Corporate Fundraiser for the third year in a row. The team was also presented with the award for best T-shirt, designed by CSC’s P2 group. (Thanks in part to CSC’s support, the Delaware JDRF Walk raised a total of $480,000 overall in 2007.)

We’re gearing up for the 2008 Walks for the Cure, and we’re looking to grow our support across CENR regions to raise even more donations. But our work goes beyond JDRF.  Other charities we support include Disability Mentoring, Junior Achievement, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Ronald McDonald House and more. CSC employees are generous givers of time and talent, as well as money. There is a lot to be proud of!”

"CSC Gives Back to Military Families" Campaign Continues

image
Thanks to generous contributions by CSC employees, as well as a corporate donation of $150,000, over $300,000 has been raised to date for the “CSC Gives Back to Military Families” campaign that began May 5.

Mike Laphen, CSC Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer: “I am pleased to announce that CSC has partnered with a CharityWorks to support their fundraising efforts to provide that ‘home away from home,’ and give back to our military and their families in a personal way for the sacrifices they have made for the freedoms we all share. This year, CSC will host the CharityWorks Dream Ball on September 27, 2008, to honor the work of the Fisher House and encourage other companies and organizations to also join us in supporting this important fundraising event.”

The goal of the campaign is to help CharityWorks raise $2 million to build a Fisher House on the grounds of the Veterans Medical Center in Washington, D.C. The Fisher House program offers “comfort homes” across the nation where America’s military families can stay free of charge during extended treatment for a serious illness or lengthy physical and/or occupational therapy. Employees who give $100 or more will be eligible for a special raffle where the winner and guest will be invited to attend the CharityWorks Dream Ball.

For more information on Fisher House, visit the CharityWorks Web site.
