DVC Named Among Best Places to Work in Industry for Scientists

DynPort Vaccine Company LLC (DVC), a CSC company, has been named to The Scientist magazine’s prestigious 2008 Best Places to Work in Industry list. In its first year on the list, DVC ranked #24 in the top 30 overall places to work for scientists.

Ranked among pharmaceutical giants like Pfizer, Novartis and AstraZeneca, two of the strengths that helped put DVC on the list are integrity and communications.

“One of DVC’s guiding principles is professionalism,” said DVC President Dr. Robert V. House. “At DVC, all of our actions are dictated by the highest scientific, personal and ethical standards. I am pleased that our team members recognize DVC’s dedication to integrity by choosing this as a company strength.”

DVC makes a sincere effort to communicate in real-time with its employees, with regular all-employee updates from the company’s president, and a bimonthly employee newsletter. An active social committee contributes to DVC’s fun, family friendly atmosphere by hosting imaginative events. Volunteers organize themed events at least monthly throughout the year. Recent events include a Leap Year luncheon (held every four years), a March Madness luncheon, an Administrative Professionals Day ice cream social, and a Cinco de Mayo taco lunch.

To determine the rankings, The Scientist posted a Web-based questionnaire and invited readers who identified themselves as non-tenured life scientists working in academia or other non-commercial research organizations to respond. Respondents assessed their working conditions and environments, and indicated which factors were important to them. A total of 82 U.S. institutions were ranked.

DVC, which offers perks like maternity parking and flex time, was also recently recognized as a top 10 family friendly business in Frederick County, Maryland.
