DVC Wins Summit Award for Workforce Development

DynPort Vaccine Company LLC (DVC) Chief Quality Officer Nancy Karaszkiewicz and Director of Program Management Stephen Matthews accepted a Summit Award for Workforce Development on March 12, 2009. Frederick Chamber President and CEO Ric Adams presented the award during the Chamber's Annual Meeting at Ceresville Mansion.

DVC was chosen as the 2009 Workforce Development Award winner for its commitment to staff, including a generous tuition reimbursement program, opportunities to attend external training and comprehensive online training resources. In addition, several DVC staff members support other educational initiatives in Frederick, such as advising the Frederick Community College Bioprocessing Technology Program and serving as adjunct faculty/guest lecturers at area universities. DVC also hosts an intern program where students take part in a variety of workshops and other learning opportunities while working full-time as DVC employees. The company hosted seven interns in 2008.

DVC President Dr. Robert V. House said, “I am proud to receive an award for the priority DVC places on learning, which is a personal priority of mine as well.”

Added Karaszkiewicz , “All of the companies named as award winners were names we have heard before, and big names in Frederick, so it is an honor for DVC to be included in this group.”

The Summit Awards honor local companies that have developed a business enterprise and achieved a substantial level of success. The Workforce Development Award is presented each year to a private sector employer that has made workforce development a priority by offering its Frederick County employees training and education opportunities or by investing money or other resources in local programs that positively affect local workforce development. Five other companies received Summit Awards at the annual event.
