CSC Gives Back to Military Families
DynPort Vaccine Company LLC (DVC), along with parent company CSC, actively supports the U.S. military. Opportunities available to military families include things such as employment opportunities, donations, awards and recognition and support initiatives.
Employment Opportunities
CSC provides wounded soldiers and veterans the opportunity to apply for open positions at many locations worldwide. The next career fair is scheduled for March 31, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia.
In addition to employment opportunities for soliders and veterans, CSC offers military spouse employment assistance. CSC is committed to increasing employment opportunities for Army spouses to enhance the Army family's financial security. CSC has developed a three-tier hiring process, and through the Army Spouse Employment Partnership (ASEP) program, offers spousal preference for military spouse candidates; employment transition assistance to relocating mlitary spouse employees and assistance with getting a resume to other ASEP partner companies if there are no available jobs within CSC. CSC Donations - Pentagon Memorial Fund
CSC North American Public Sector (NPS) President, James W. Sheaffer, presented a check for $100,000 to the Pentagon Memorial Fund on behalf of the 26,000 NPS employees, 30 percent of whom are veterans. Mr. Sheaffer noted, "Helping make this important memorial a reality is an honor and source of pride for all of us at CSC."
Awards and Recognitions
In 2008, CSC was named to the "Top 10 Military Spouse Friendly Companies for 2008" by Military Spouse magazine.
Another recognition of CSC's military efforts was presented by Employer Support of the Guide and Reserve (ESGR) as a supporter of its Guard and Reserve employees.
Support Initiatives
To help families copes with injured military service members and veterans, the Fisher House program is a home that provides an environment for families to stay close to loved ones undergoing treatment. The Fisher House, which will begin construction later this year, will be built on the grounds of the Veteran Medical Center in Washington, D.C. The program has been made possible by the partnership of CSC and CharityWorks. In December 2008, CSC donated nearly $400,000 to Fisher House.
In addition to the Fisher House program, CSC is assisting the "Cell Phones for Soldiers" program with donations of used cell phones, batteries and chargers to support these men and women by helping them stay in touch with their families.
