CSC Creates First Online Community Dedicated to Meaningful Use
Nyhedsartikel -- Juli 21, 2010
Web Site Offers Healthcare Providers an Online Forum to Learn, Connect and Share When Implementing Meaningful Use of Electronic Health Records
FALLS CHURCH, Va., July 21 – CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced the CSC Meaningful Use Community, the first open and interactive online community for healthcare providers seeking to achieve meaningful use of electronic health records (EHR). The community will provide an open forum for healthcare professionals to learn, connect and share guidance with others who have successfully implemented meaningful use of EHRs. Members also have access to CSC experts and other industry leaders for advice and information about the federal government’s criteria and insights on how to implement meaningful use of EHRs in a timely manner. Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), hospitals will begin to qualify for payments from Medicare and Medicaid starting in October 2010 for the successful implementation and effective use of EHRs. The United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released final rules on the EHR incentive plan on July 13, and the incentive payments are substantial: a typical 275-bed hospital would be eligible for approximately $6 million. Hospitals that do not meet federal guidelines by 2015 face reductions in Medicare reimbursement.
“CSC is transforming healthcare with better information for better decisions and we are pleased to host an online, interactive and user-friendly forum devoted to meaningful use to help our nation’s hospitals deliver the highest quality of care and achieve the benefits from the meaningful use of electronic health records,” said Mark Roman, president of CSC’s Healthcare Group. “Now that the finalized standards have been released, hospitals have only months to demonstrate meaningful use. There is a massive need within this growing industry for accurate, up-to-date information and best practices, and the CSC Meaningful Use Community is a great resource for healthcare professionals looking for answers.”
“Amidst a quickly changing healthcare landscape, it is clear that the industry needs a reliable and constantly updated source of information,” said Shelli Williamson, executive director of Scottsdale Institute. “CSC’s Meaningful Use Community is a way for the industry to stay abreast, communicate with each other and learn about how to meet meaningful use standards within tight timeframes for incentive payments.”
“Information sharing is critical in helping the healthcare industry quickly and meaningfully adopt electronic health records,” said Judy Hanover, research manager with IDC Health Insights. “Accurate and timely information will help providers to implement EHRs appropriately and in time to qualify for meaningful use incentives. CSC’s Meaningful Use Community is providing a place for the industry to come together, exchange ideas, and learn from experts and peers.”
The CSC Meaningful Use Community is powered by Jive, CSC alliance partner and social business leader. In June 2010, CSC and Jive announced that CSC is a launch partner for Jive Apps Market and that CSC will market and sell Jive Social Business Software (SBS) across its lines of business.
