CSC TO MOVE CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS TO FALLS CHURCH, VIRGINIA
Nyhedsartikel -- Januar 30, 2008
FALLS CHURCH, Va., Jan. 30, 2008 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) announced that its Board of Directors has approved a decision to relocate corporate headquarters to Falls Church, Va., from El Segundo, Calif. The relocation will consolidate into one geographical location the corporate executive leadership with the company’s global operational headquarters. The consolidation will achieve enhanced productivity by reducing extensive travel now required between the two locations, facilitate the frequency and effectiveness of executive interactions, and save on the expenses of maintaining both corporate and operational headquarters facilities on opposite sides of the U.S.
“CSC was founded in the Los Angeles area in 1959, and we have enjoyed a rewarding history of growth and success from our long-standing El Segundo headquarters,” said CSC Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Michael W. Laphen. “While we will retain a presence there, the consolidation to Northern Virginia is without a doubt the right move to power CSC’s accelerated growth and expansion.”
With approximately 11,000 CSC employees, the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area already has the company’s largest concentration of employees. CSC is consistently ranked as one of the largest employers in the region by local media.
“Fairfax County’s outstanding education system, highly skilled workforce and easy world access continue to attract the attention of global corporate giants like Computer Sciences Corporation,” said Virginia Governor Timothy M. Kaine. “This announcement underscores the value of these assets to corporate decision makers worldwide. I look forward to CSC’s continued success in Virginia.”
Since its founding, CSC has grown to become a global, multibillion-dollar corporation, with approximately one third of its revenue generated from business with the U.S. government. In addition to Falls Church being headquarters for CSC’s largest business unit, the North American Public Sector, it is also headquarters for the company’s commercial outsourcing business, a principal growth engine of the company since the early 1990s. Falls Church has been recognized as the company’s global operational headquarters for many years.
