CSC NAMES DAVID BOOTH PRESIDENT OF GLOBAL SALES AND MARKETING

Appointment Part of Strategy to Accelerate GrowthEL SEGUNDO, Calif., Nov. 20 -- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced the appointment of David Booth, 45, to the newly created position of president, Global Sales and Marketing. The appointment supports Project Accelerate, the company’s comprehensive new strategy to accelerate growth and improve customer service.
Effective immediately, Booth will be responsible for designing and implementing CSC sales and marketing strategies worldwide to help create and sustain competitive advantage in bringing service offerings to market. He will report to CSC Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Michael W. Laphen.
“I am pleased to announce David’s appointment to this key new role,” said Laphen. “His extensive industry experience and proven track record will be valuable assets as we align our global sales and marketing efforts and position CSC to meet future growth targets.”
His responsibilities will include developing sales and marketing strategies to increase penetration in key markets; strengthening and enhancing sales and marketing capabilities across the business; creating and maintaining alliances to augment growth goals; and establishing strategies, programs and practices that define CSC’s presence in the marketplace. These will include developing and implementing a focused market segmentation strategy, improving the alignment of the sales function with the overall business, developing CSC’s brand, and strengthening the sales and marketing culture within CSC across the globe. These programs, and others developed as part of Project Accelerate, will help transform how CSC goes to market.
Booth joins CSC from HP where he was senior vice president and general manager of the Americas Technology Solutions Group. He joined HP in 2002 when the company merged with Compaq. At the time, he was president and managing director of Compaq’s operations in Canada. He joined Compaq through the 1998 acquisition of Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). During his prior 11-year career with DEC, he held increasingly senior management positions. At the time of the merger with Compaq, he was regional vice president and general manager of DEC’s Southern Region.
Booth holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce (marketing) from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, Canada, and completed the Lessons in Leadership Executive Development Program at Harvard University. He is a founding member of the Mount Allison University National Advisory Council and an active member of the school’s Board of Regents.
