EL SEGUNDO, Calif., March 28 -- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced that it has received a Best-Practice Partner Award from APQC (formerly known as the American Productivity & Quality Center) for successfully embedding innovation in the organization. The award was presented on March 27 at the APQC Knowledge Transfer Session on Innovation in Houston, Texas.APQC, a nonprofit research organization, brings industry-leading firms together to share experiences and best practices and to explore new ideas. CSC was identified last fall by APQC for excellence in innovation and invited to participate in APQC’s 2006-2007 Consortium Benchmarking Study entitled, “Successfully Embedding Innovation: Strategy and Tactics.” CSC was one of five companies selected as Best-Practice Partners based on responses to a screening survey regarding CSC’s strategy, processes and culture.
The Knowledge Transfer Session and award presentation culminates months of information sharing among the five award winners, APQC, and various commercial and government organizations sponsoring the study. APQC captures the ideas and examples shared, and all participants receive copies of the resulting report containing analysis and case studies. This report will be available to the general public through APQC in July 2007.
“CSC’s site visit was very informative,” said Marisa Brown, APQC’s senior program manager for Innovation and R&D. “They shared their experiences with taking a holistic approach to innovation involving strong commitment and support from senior management.”
“We are honored to have been recognized by APQC and to have participated in this study,” said R. Lemuel Lasher, CSC chief innovation officer. “It is gratifying to have an independent organization of APQC’s stature recognize CSC’s innovation and knowledge management programs as industry best practices.
