CSC NAMED INSURANCE TECHNOLOGY MARKET LEADER BY DATAMONITOR
Nyhedsartikel -- Januar 24, 2005
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Jan. 24 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) announced today that industry analyst firm Datamonitor has named CSC a leader in global insurance technology in two recent reports. One report, “Insurance Technology Vendor Market Shares in Europe and North America,” highlights CSC's position as the top non-hardware vendor in terms of overall insurance technology market share, and as the application software market leader with a 15 percent market share.
The report, which is based on interviews regarding current and future investments with more than 200 senior information technology (IT) decision-makers in Europe and the United States, claims that CSC’s strength lies in its infrastructure services and credentials in business process outsourcing in the insurance sector.
Datamonitor also states that moderate growth in IT spending in the insurance sector will reverse, and that by 2006 the sector will experience the fastest growth in the financial services technology market.
Another recent Datamonitor report, “Policy Administration Systems in Global Life Insurance,” names CSC as the “best-established vendor” in this field and highlights the organization’s “deep domain and process expertise” and “broad spread of major global references” as key determinants of this position.
The report says that policy administration systems are set to become the most important area of technology investment for life insurers. With the current pressures on profit margins, Datamonitor explains that it is difficult to make the case for technology replacement; insurers are focusing on architecture standardization and incremental replacement.
“It is not surprising that CSC is rated so well in both of these reports,” commented William Conner, lead analyst for Datamonitor's financial services technology. “We believe there are three key factors that determine success in the technology implementation field – domain expertise, process coverage and business issue awareness – and CSC has demonstrable ability in all of these areas. Its approach to business process management is also going to be key to helping it maintain its presence and depth in these markets.”
“It’s gratifying that Datamonitor’s interviews with insurance executives and other research and analysis have confirmed CSC’s leading role in the global insurance sector,” said Jim Cook, president of CSC's Financial Services Group. “We continually work to apply CSC’s deep industry knowledge and experience to increase the business value delivered to our clients.”
