CSC DirectConnect runs as a distributed, peer-to-peer network. Every member site runs a copy of the DirectConnect software, which routes transactions directly from the provider to the payer and back again.

Creating Transactions: Legacy Systems and DirectConnect Express

DirectConnect providers can submit transactions from their core systems or use DirectConnect Express to create and manage transactions from start to finish.

• DirectConnect Express is a browser-based application that can generate eligibility, CSI and referral transactions for any DirectConnect payer. It accepts input via direct data entry, CSV files, and XLS files.
• DirectConnect is also capable of receiving, mapping, and transporting HIPAA transactions from any hospital system such as Meditech, eClinicalWorks, IDX, Eclipsys, and EPIC.

Communicating with Payers: DirectConnect eGateway

• The DirectConnect eGateway application will accept the transaction, apply any payer-specific transformations needed, send the transaction out to the payer and receive the request.
• eGateway is multi-threaded to simultaneously catch and process multiple transactions. It is capable of validating and routing over 50 transactions/second.
• eGateway can be configured to work with the lowest cost delivery mechanism.

Managing the Data: DirectConnect Datamart and DirectConnect Express

The DirectConnect DataMart is a database that integrates into DirectConnect Express.

• DataMart stores information on every transaction sent and received.
• Tracks claims, remittances, and eligibility information
• Stored data can be used for reporting and analysis.
• Search for eligibility, remittances, submitter reports, and claims via an easy to use interface.
• Integrated security allows you to control who can access your data. Information can be controlled by account, user group, and even via individual users.
