ISO 9001

Built around eight principles of sound management — including customer focus, leadership, continual improvement and a process/system approach to management — the ISO family of standards is internationally recognized as setting the benchmark for quality management systems.

Organizations are certified as compliant with these standards after an extensive review by an independent auditor. The rigorous certification process has made ISO standards synonymous with higher quality and efficiency, lower cost and greater customer satisfaction.

ISO 9001 is the most comprehensive standard in the ISO series, covering the design, manufacturing, installation and servicing of systems. It was first adopted in 1987 and has been revised twice. The most recent revision — ISO 9001:2000, adopted in 2000 — provides a number of requirements that an organization needs to fulfill in order to achieve customer satisfaction through consistent, repeatable processes, products and services.

CSC and ISO

CSC’s implementation of the ISO series is closely linked to our commitment to other industry standards such as CMMI (which overlaps significantly with ISO 9001), best-practice frameworks and models such as ITIL and EVMS, and quality systems such as Lean/Six Sigma.

The result is a holistic approach to quality that permeates CSC’s organizational culture. The benefits to our clients include:

  • Consistency and predictability across projects
  • Repeatable processes and project management methodologies
  • Higher quality products, programs and services delivered on time and within budget
  • Independent validation of CSC’s quality credentials
