Educational Testing Service (ETS) Putting Educational Innovation to the Test
The world’s largest administrator of standardized tests, ETS currently relies on CSC cloud solutions to access on-demand computing power that has improved its ability to handle peak workloads, reduce infrastructure costs and expand into emerging markets. While delivering support that includes consulting and IT security services, we also worked with ETS and computer maker Lenovo on a study to find out whether computer-based testing during summer breaks can improve students’ knowledge retention and achievement. This research effort may ultimately help educators harness technology to mitigate learning loss among elementary and middle-school students, reduce re-teaching and increase schools’ operational efficiency.

NASA Johnson Space Center Launching Cost-Effective Sustainability
When Johnson Space Center (JSC) needed assistance in complying with the NASA sustainability policy as well as sustainability-related Executive Orders, we helped outline a path to more sustainable energy management practices. Through this project, we helped JSC develop a portfolio of projects exploiting geothermal and solar energy as well as new passive-solar lighting systems that magnify natural light. Our energy management solution has delivered cost savings, including $62,000 in electricity savings annually; improved energy security; and enhanced facility quality while helping JSC support NASA sustainability goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and lowering energy intensity.

UK Royal Mail Group Delivering for Underserved Communities
When Royal Mail sought to boost agility and avoid the costs associated with conventional desktop technology, we helped the organization migrate approximately 30,000 employee email accounts to the cloud. In addition, to ensure the ongoing usefulness of its legacy equipment, we helped Royal Mail prepare and donate nearly 3,000 PCs and laptops to schools and charities in underserved communities in Malawi, Namibia, Ethiopia and Chile. As a result of this collaboration, Royal Mail was able to dispose of redundant equipment in an environmentally responsible manner while also strengthening disadvantaged communities in developing areas.
