CR at CSC Around the World

Throughout the company, around the world, CSC employees exemplify our CR practices.
In addition to the various regional activities featured below, a great example of collaboration across our European region is the "CSC Gives Back: Tour de Force", a pan-European CR Event. A team of 47 CSC employees, clients and partners from across 9 countries in Europe competed in the Etape Du Tour race on July 8th, 2012, and the team has a fundraising goal of €1,000 per biker to support child welfare in Bucharest, Romania with the association SOS Children’s Villages.
CSC employees in the United States showed their support for our soldiers by participating in and fundraising for the 2011 Washington, DC Soldier Ride, which helps service members recovering from injuries reclaim confidence and strength. We helped raise funds to support the Wounded Warrior Project through these efforts, and also sponsored Operation Jump Start, a fundraising event that helps younger wounded warriors transition into civilian careers.
Our Brazil team of employees contributed to efforts by Projeto Pequeninos to combat hunger among children from low-income families throughout Brazil in 2011. We helped the Monte Azul organization equip young people from underserved communities with educational toys to improve dexterity and motorskills, and conducted a food drive for local daycare centers with the Anglican Institute.
In the United Kingdom, our community investment programme provides our employees with a number of employee volunteering opportunities throughout the year to give service back to their local communities and in the process, gain very useful leadership skills and experience for employee development. In FY12, we fundraised £170,000 for for the charitable section and we give over a thousand days of volunteering time to charities, non-profit organisations and the education sector.
In South Africa, together with Global Development for Peace and Leadership (GDPL), we supported the Western Cape Youth Dialogue Forum to help young South Africans practice leadership skills and engage with institutions of learning and the larger community. The Forum is coordinated by youth, and provides opportunities for participants to speak across generations and shape educational opportunities for themselves and their Cape Town peers. We also provided funding for the GDPL’s Emerging Leadership Programme, which equips youth with training in negotiation and collaboration.
In the Netherlands, we focused on medical care for children with chronic illnesses such as heart disease and asthma, Make a Wish Foundation initiatives, flood relief, and rainforest conservation. In 2011, our Dutch team organized a creative fundraising effort in which employees purchased decommissioned CSC laptops, then voted for which charities to receive sales proceeds.
Our CSC Australia team has been actively pursuing community change through physical challenges. In 2011, for the fourth consecutive year, CSC provided corporate sponsorship for the Tour de Cure which organizes an 180-mile cycling event through Australia to raise money for cancer research and treatment. 16 of our employees participated in the trek. Additionally, we raised more than $62,000 for multiple sclerosis (MS) research and fielded the largest team of MS Australia riders to make a 55-mile cycling journey.
In 2011 we partnered with Operation Smile through CSC Vietnam to offer logistical support to doctors providing care for children with facial deformities. CSC employees helped at the National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology in Hanoi with screening, medical records and support to over 100 patients undergoing medical examinations. Our CSC Vietnam team also participated in fundraising for local charities devoted to healthcare, education and vocational training for youth.
In CSC India, as part of the UK Prime Minister Global Fellowship program, our employees hosted five young professionals from the UK for a 2-week program to broaden international business knowledge. Participants learned the inner workings of global IT company operation, transformation of emerging economies and globalization, and received a firsthand look at corporate functions in today's industry.
