UK Governance
The CSC UK Corporate Responsibility Steering Group chaired by our Vice President and General Manager governs our efforts and operates from CSC Headquarters, in Aldershot. Our UK corporate responsibility (CR) programme reflects the requirements of CSC's global CR strategy.
Our CR Key Stakeholders include:
Shareholders; Employees; Clients; Suppliers; Strategic Partners; Government; Industry Analysts; Local Community; Partner Charities; Trade Unions; Other Interest Groups.
CSC recognises that engaging with stakeholders is an essential part of responsible business practice and engages its stakeholders in a variety of ways, through customer and employee surveys, collaboration websites, membership of committees and special interest groups, questionnaires and face to face dialogue.
In November 2011 we commissioned sustainability consultancy Context to conduct interviews with external stakeholders including customers and IT and industry experts to gather views on the most important CR issues facing CSC UK and the wider IT services industry and to get feedback on our first CR Report and communications. We will reflect on the key issues identified by our stakeholders and continue to find new ways to meet the needs of our clients, reduce our impacts, balance business efficiency with economic success and ensure a sustainable future for CSC.
Key sustainable issues for CSC UK identified by our stakeholders include: business continuity; data security; helping customers to meet their sustainable goals; sustainable supply chain and product lifecycle impact, and carbon emissions from data centre operations and travel.
Assessing our CR Risks and Opportunities
At CSC, risks and opportunities related to climate change, sustainability and overall Corporate Social Responsibility issues are assessed in the strategy and operations domains and transferred to our CR Risk Register. The CR Steering Group determines and directs an appropriate response to management's assurances about residual risk positions.
