Simon has nearly 25 years of experience in banking and finance and has built a deep understanding of the industry through senior executive assignments in Australia, the UK, the Pacific, Asia and Africa.
He joined CSC in 2010 as director of Banking for Financial Services in Australia. His responsibilities include spearheading implementation of CSC’s banking strategy by positioning the company as a leading provider of enterprise-wide technology, systems integration, consulting, and software and systems development to the Australian banks.
Prior to entering the financial services arena, Simon spent 11 years in the Royal Australian Navy where he specialized as a mine warfare and clearance diving officer, serving in ships and establishments in Australia, the UK, New Zealand, the Pacific and Canada.
He later joined Westpac Banking Corporation in Sydney as a management consultant and undertook roles in project management, business development, strategy and finance before moving into managing director and CEO leadership positions. Simon completed four MD/CEO assignments and has more than 14 years of experience in bank MD/CEO roles. He was CEO of Pacific Commercial Bank in Samoa and MD/CEO of Westpac Bank in Papua New Guinea.
In 2001, he joined Standard Chartered Bank PLC in London and then served as MD/CEO in Sierra Leone. In 2003, he commenced a four-year assignment as MD/CEO for the company in Nigeria. Most recently, he was Standard Chartered’s group head of Service and Operational Excellence, based in Singapore.
Simon has a bachelor of science degree from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, and an MBA from Macquarie University, Sydney.
He is a keen sportsman and enjoys all sports but has a special passion for cricket and rugby union. Tennis, golf and triathlon events — he successfully completed the Australian Long Course Triathlon (2km swim, 83km bike and 20km run) — are also of interest.
