A Fortune 50 conglomerate wanted to leverage self-service cloud infrastructure to deliver highly scalable solutions to its individual business lines and customers globally. Known as the Commercial Cloud, this initiative would support software services for all business lines, many of them the size of Fortune 500 companies.
Cloud Management Platform (CMP) Selection and Implementation
Following a decision made by the CTO to use an external consultant to help with phase 1, the initial planning and requirements design stage, the consultant led the conglomerate’s team through the CMP documentation and vendor selection process. After thoroughly evaluating five enterprise providers, the conglomerate selected Agility Platform. Like many large-scale enterprises, the conglomerate found Agility Platform appealing because it would increase transparency, reduce cloud deployment costs, and provide secure and compliant self-service automation for multiple cloud deployments. Phase 2 of the engagement addressed development and operational deployment. Production-ready deployment of Agility Platform integrated multiple public and private cloud providers.
Worldwide delivery of highly scalable services using Agility Platform.
With Agility Platform, the conglomerate is leveraging self-service automated cloud infrastructure to deliver highly scalable services to more than 300,000 employees, vendors and customers worldwide. Development teams have the ability to register and provision cloud resources across multiple “end node” providers, including Amazon, Terremark and Rackspace, and have a single management console for orchestrating the environments necessary to support enterprise software development. The client has the ability to automate end-to-end software development lifecycle processes for Agile teams. This DevOps in the cloud delivery model substantially reduces the time to market for critical applications. Additionally, the conglomerate’s software engineering teams are able to provide the flexibility required to implement the company’s Industrial Internet strategy.
