Transformation to a Cloud Empowered Enterprise Enables IT as a Service (ITaaS)
What if your business users could get self-service, on-demand access to the IT resources they need in just minutes? What if you could increase the frequency of application releases? Innovation flourishes when IT is delivered as a Service.
IT transformation through implementing a cloud operating model evolves existing inefficient and manual operating models to an automated, self-service model. As this evolution in IT takes place, the organization is on the path to becoming a Cloud-Empowered Enterprise, where on-demand, self service access to applications, platforms and underlying infrastructure drives competitive advantage. CSC views transformation to a Cloud Empowered Enterprise in four stages with organizational maturity increasing with each stage;
Virtualize - Consolidate data center workloads on virtualized IT infrastructure.
Private Cloud - Improve agility by offering self-service IT resources, and improve efficiency by automating and standardizing around IT services.
Hybrid Cloud - Accelerate time to market for new projects, extend governance models across all cloud usage, and begin implementing vendor contestability models.
IT-as-a-Service - Establish enterprise IT as the broker and portfolio manager of hybrid cloud services across the enterprise.The maturity model depicted below provides a high-level depiction of the transformation required. IT transformation requires changes in process, organization, and technology.
There can be multiple entry points into this maturity model. Maturity doesn’t have to evolve rigidly in waterfall style from beginning to end. But jumping from an early milestone to a much later one is not feasible without building out core foundational capabilities along the way.
