VMware to Boost Storage with Virsto Software
CSC's "as a Service" partner VMware recently announced that they will soon acquire Virsto Software, a provider of storage performance optimization software, to ramp up VMware's virtual storage with a focus on infrastructure.
VMware VP of Storage & Availability, John Gilmartin, blogged that VMware has two plans of action for the Virsto product:
"First, we’ll continue to offer Virsto’s standalone virtual appliance to help accelerate storage performance and improve efficiency in VMware vSphere environments. This means we’ll continue to support existing Virsto customers while also introducing Virsto’s capabilities to new users. Second, we’re planning to integrate Virsto’s architecture and data management services into future VMware products."
VMware's acquisition of Virsto should be made final by the end of the quarter, and this means a concentration on virtualized data centers, compute, network and storage. And let's not forget our favorite area of expertise...cloud-based applications!
