In the CSC Global CIO Survey: 2014-2015, IT investment in mobility showed variance in both industry and regional breakdowns. IT leaders appear to embrace mobility depending on the perceived benefit and importance in their respective industries and regions. Meanwhile, on a global scale, North America trails other regions in investment, but has the largest percentage of new interest among respondents.

IT leaders are generally confident in their progress in this arena to date, with 53% describing it as very good-to-excellent. Given these significant rates of current and soon-to-be investments, it is logical that the development and support of mobile applications is a priority over the next 12 months across nearly all industries. 60% or more of respondents in all but one industry — government/public sector (49%) — flagged mobile app development as a key aim for their organizations.

Government/public sector respondents trailed too, in emphasizing adoption of BYOD in the workplace, although only 11% separates the highest rate of emphasis from the lowest. However, 52% of respondents across all industries said their current progress with BYOD is very good or excellent, suggesting some feel they already have this trend in hand and are ready to move forward.
