- CSC Global CIO Survey: - 2014-2015
CIOs Emerge as Disruptive Innovators
big data
As predicted in previous years, big data and analytics continues to be an area of growing focus across all regions and sectors. For manufacturing, the parsing and processing of machine-generated and point-to-point data can be funneled directly into automated processes, optimizing workflow and self-correcting issues without human intervention. For healthcare, predictors and correlations become increasingly accurate as more data flows into models — enabling swifter health response to outbreaks and better insurance cost projections. As more sectors seek to embrace solutions that mine the real intelligence from big data, the adoption curve only grows steeper.

IT leaders are looking to big data to drive their businesses into the future. See how big data factors into their planning.

Last year, respondents saw big data figuring heavily in their 3- to 5-year plans. In some sectors, that pace has already accelerated.

75

2013

of respondents said big data is a major challenge in the next 3 – 5 years

81

2014

of respondents in manufacturing cited big data as a critical or high priority for them in the next 12 months

And it's easy to see why, when it comes to the perception of big data and productivity. Overall, 75% of respondents believe analytics and big data has a positive impact on productivity and efficiency — with the healthcare industry at the front of the pack.
