Finding Realistic Solutions

“Having started my career seven years ago as a developer, I have progressed through program manager and project manager, and currently work as a delivery manager for the set-up of an outsourcing center for bank’s development activities.

My role is to ensure that our delivery teams fulfill the work orders requested by the banks, to identify issues and obstacles, and help solve them. I have a lot of freedom in solving issues, can be creative with ideas, and be pragmatic with resources and use them in the way I feel is best. I act as the liaison between the delivery team and client, and a large part of my role includes team motivation and support both at work and more informally via team-building dinners and other events.

“We have a very strict service level agreement with the client so I need to be careful in finding solutions that are realistic and acceptable to the client, and of course profitable for CSC, I do a lot of negotiation. I like that CSC trusts me to work independently, but that there is always management support if an issues arises. You are never alone if your project is at risk.

“I support the client’s contract and account managers in defining new contracts with banks based on my experience with entities already on board. From this I have built up experience and expertise of best practices that adds real value to the client as new contracts can be based on lessons learned. I like that with CSC you are learning and improving your skills every day. Not only am I responsible for reporting our work progress to the client and to CSC management, but I also act as the first point of escalation when there are issues with the center, which I report to the site manager for action.
