Due to growing complexity, more products, disruptions caused by mergers and the break with banking activities, the insurance business has experienced an increase in workload. The reporting mechanisms and procedures of the past are no longer capable of generating reports with sufficient speed and coherence.
Optimizing the business
With CSC’s help, AG Insurance was able to set in motion a vast change management program called Project ONE (symbolizing the convergence of goals and resources), encompassing business processes, organization structure and competences, and the standards and practices of the AG Insurance Risk, Control & Performance Management Life Department. With its last and most technical phase, “ONE Technical” will allow business users to become more autonomous in exploiting enterprise information to quicken analyses and decision-making. This will shift the reporting team’s workload from report authoring to better supporting the people who run the business.
Implementation of IT Solutions
The ONE Technical project was launched in May 2009. It involved the implementation of IT solutions (in this case, new data warehousing and business intelligence solutions using SAS technologies) capable of realizing the full potential of the new principles and methods. The project was organized in five phases lasting until the end of 2012. These phases were designed to address various data integration, reporting and dashboard needs according to pre-defined priorities.
Interface between IT and business
With ONE Technical, AG Insurance took an essential step in raising IT standards related to data warehousing and reporting. The firm relied upon CSC to inform them about the new SAS tools capabilities and to teach them how to maximize the potential of the data warehouse and data mart resources. CSC played a transition and facilitation role between the business and IT related to reporting to help them identifying the new roles and responsibilities of the internal teams. CSC also supported the promotion of the project’s visibility across multiple business units as well as improved knowledge sharing within the different departments.
