CSC SIGNS NEW $48 MILLION IT OUTSOURCING CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH WHITBREAD
News Release -- October 16, 2006
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Oct. 16 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced that it has signed a new information technology (IT) outsourcing contract with Whitbread Group Plc valued at approximately $48 million (26 million pounds sterling), expanding total contract value to approximately $222 million (120 million pounds sterling) since 2000.Under this new five-and-a-half-year agreement, which supersedes the current contract signed in 2004, CSC will provide India-based applications support through its World Sourcing operation. World Sourcing gives companies like Whitbread a geographically flexible approach to lower cost, high quality applications support.
CSC also will continue to provide desktop support for all of Whitbread’s central information systems and technology, including data center services, email, Internet and intranet. The new contract extends all services through March 2012.
“Over recent years, Whitbread Group Plc has undergone significant change in terms of acquisitions, divestitures, integration and growth,” said Ben Wishart, group IT director for Whitbread Group Plc. “After a thorough review of our operations, we felt that the previous contractual arrangements were fit for a different Whitbread and that change was required. It is a credit to CSC that they were able to present a more flexible model. We find CSC to be client oriented and delivery focused and we look forward to continuing to work successfully together.”
“This new agreement represents a considerable change in operating model and provides flexibility, a different cost structure and a platform for growing the relationship in the future,” said Vanessa Reed, director of CSC’s UK Retail and Leisure group. “Our longstanding relationship with Whitbread is testament to the benefits they have received from outsourcing. CSC’s World Sourcing operations will increase those benefits and deliver results that take Whitbread to the next generation of outsourcing.”
