CSC-LED ALLIANCE AWARDED $3.73 BILLION IT SERVICES CONTRACT WITH THE UK NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE
News Release -- September 28, 2006
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Sept. 28 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced that it has been awarded a nine-year contract with the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS) as part of the NHS’ Connecting for Health program to improve healthcare service for patients in the North East and East of England. The contract is valued at $3.73 billion (1,965 million pounds sterling) if all options are exercised.NHS Connecting for Health, Accenture and CSC today announced a change of the Local Service Provider for delivery of the NHS National Programme for Information Technology in its North East and Eastern clusters. Accenture will transfer responsibility for delivery of its main obligations within the National Programme for IT to CSC in these clusters by January 8, 2007. CSC will continue to fulfill its contractual obligations to provide services to the North West and West Midlands of England under an agreement previously announced in December 2003.
The changes are driven by NHS Connecting for Health and its suppliers’ ongoing desire to ensure that delivery of new systems is as rapid as is practicable within existing costs.
Today's announcement is covered by tripartite binding agreements which conclude all material matters of contention associated with the agreements and which require Accenture to manage the transfer of its responsibilities to CSC in an orderly manner over the next 100 days.
