Every bank offering payment services in the Euro currency must comply with new operating frameworks for the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), which aims to transform individual national retail payment markets into one pan-European market with massive potential cost savings for corporate and public sector customers. The SEPA project is designed to eliminate national differences in payment instruments and processing infrastructures in Europe, and harmonize fees for cross-border and domestic Euro transactions.
