UmbPlex® is the synchronization component software for Hogan Umbrella® system. UmbPlex complements IBM’s Parallel Sysplex processing, enabling data sharing and transaction processing in all coupled machines regardless of physical location or transaction origination. It also allows CPUs to be brought on and off line individually for maintenance with less downtime. IBM’s Parallel Sysplex clustering is a major technological advancement that increases system scalability and availability while helping reduce the cost of computing. It links many zSeries servers and enables them to operate as a single system. Doing so provides significant benefits, particularly for larger banks that struggle to meet availability and CPU resource requirements of growing online transaction systems.

Hogan's UmbPlex
UmbPlex improves the stability and availability of parallel networked computers to achieve Hogan Systems application and scalability advances, even for online transaction systems.
IBM invented Parallel Sysplex to allow clustering of large computers to act as a "single image." CSC invented UmbPlex to make that facility useful to applications. CSC’s work to develop UmbPlex has resulted in IBM awarding it Advanced ClusterProven status.
Key Features
- Awarded IBM Advanced ClusterProven status
- Enables data sharing and transaction processing regardless of physical location and origination
- Improves system integrity
- Increases system scalability and availability
According to IBM: "A solution receives the status of ClusterProven if it has been tested to perform in an IBM clustered server environment to meet predefined criteria, it delivers availability and scalability characteristics beyond that achieved on a single system, and it maintains application availability in the event of failure."
