The company required a rigorous yet flexible approach to deliver the projects in an environment constrained by external dependencies and very demanding deadlines for transitioning off the old SAP.
The Challenge
The company saw the project as a strategic opportunity to enhance its learning management capability, improving compliance and competency management and, ultimately, to ensure the safety and development of its workforce.
In line with recent legislative changes, the company also wanted an integrated commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS) solution to implement the business functionalities of material risk registers, ‘bow-ties”, control adequacy assessments, change management and control monitoring requirements.
The company required a rigorous yet flexible approach to deliver the projects in an environment constrained by external dependencies and very demanding deadlines for transitioning off the old SAP.
The Solutions
Following a formal tender process, the company selected CSC as Systems Integrator for the program. Solution providers selected for the two systems were:
- Learning Management System - TotalLMS system from SumTotal Systems
- Risk Management System - the Stature system from HIS (then Dyadem)
- To be successful, the program involved considerable organisational change so the company selected SAP consultancy, Presence of IT, as its HR partner
- Specialist company, Meerkat, was engaged to provide integration services for the safety and incident management system.
In order to ensure a fast and smooth implementation CSC contracted with the selected solution vendors as sub contractors, bringing their staff into the composite team with staff from the company.
The Results
The complex Learning Management solution was implemented with minimal issues when it went live in April 2011 and there has been a smooth transition to the new systems. The Risk Management system went live in May 2011 and has proven a very successful implementation.
