Impact of 4G telecommunications on eHealth
CSC’s James Rice Interviewed on “The Business” about the impact of 4G telecommunications on eHealth
The introduction of faster 4G communications in Australia is predicted to benefit businesses and consumers. Healthcare in particular, is set to take advantage of this technology evolution.
“The Business” is a national Australian business news show from the ABC. On September 4th 2012, the program ran a segment on the 4G technology evolution. Along with other technology experts, the segment featured an interview with James Rice, managing director for CSC’s Healthcare Group in the Asia Pacific region.
According to James, “faster is the key”. He explained that sharing of larger files, like radiology images, will work better on the kinds of speed promised by 4G.
He also spoke about the work CSC is doing at Cabrini Health in Malvern Victoria to give doctors mobile access to a virtual electronic medical record on their iPads.
Uptake of the system, called Mobility Suite, has been voluntary, rapid and enthusiastic. Within a year of introduction, nearly half of all diagnostic results were viewed via mobile devices. For more read the case study describing Cabrini’s use of CSC Mobility Suite.
