For the Countess of Chester Hospital in the UK NHS, the roll-out of a digital x-ray system - known as Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) - has enabled images, such as X-rays and scans, to be stored electronically and viewed on computer screens rather then film so that doctors, radiographers and other health professionals can share images and consult in real-time.
